THERE IS PAIN IN BEAUTY SINCE WE ALL DIE SLOWLY
70 X 106 X 12 cm
When Narcissus saw his own reflection in the water, he fell in love with it, not realizing it was merely an image. Unable to leave the beauty of his reflection and being fixated with his own physical appearance, Narcissus lost his will to live. He stared at his reflection until he died.
In society there is so much emphasis on appearance and youth, that true beauty, which is the beauty of the soul, is often unseen.
In every moment, we are a moment closer to our dying moment. However in the decay of life, there can be so much beauty in growth and in wisdom.
When we stay fixated on our appearance, the way we look, our outer world, without the acceptance of the decay of our cells, our body’s, our lives, there will always be pain related to life. Since decay is inseparable of our earthly existence.
We all die slowly.
